SquareCut Technology Delivers Maximum Plasma Productivity and Quality

ESAB’s new SquareCut Technology brings powerful new advantages to customers cutting mild steel with plasma. When equipped with the DMX Plasma Beveler and the iSeries Precision Plasma system, an ESAB cutting machine can cut faster than any competitive system, or deliver the highest possible cut edge quality. It can also improve small hole cutting beyond the traditional Enhanced Hole Technology for many hole sizes.

SquareCut uses the DMX to tilt the torch by a few degrees while cutting, to compensate for the natural bevel angle caused by plasma cutting.

SquareCut achieves cut speeds nearly 3 times faster, improves small-hole cylindricity, and can also improve edge squareness on quality cuts by using ESAB’s unique DMX Plasma Beveller to compensate for edge cut angle. SquareCut Technology delivers the data and programming techniques to take advantage of the DMX Beveller’s tilting capability while cutting straight edges.

SquareCut Technology is only available on ESAB machines equipped with ESAB’s iSeries Precision Plasma, and the DMX Plasma Beveler.

HIGH SPEED CUTTING

SquareCut lets you cut materials at higher amperage while tilting the torch to compensate for increased edge angle. The result is faster cuts while keeping a square edge. For example, you can cut 12 mm steel with 200 Amps at 2700 mm/min, resulting in a high quality cut. But if you want to cut it faster, SquareCut Technology lets you cut the same 12 mm thickness at 5000 mm/min using 400 Amps, while still achieving a square cut edge.

With SquareCut Technology, you can use the maximum Amperage available from your plasma system to cut even thinner materials, maximizing speed without creating excessive edge bevels. The DMX Beveler compensates for the bevel angle, resulting in a square cut edge.

ENHANCED SMALL HOLES

ESAB’s Enhanced Hole Technology provides excellent cylindricity on small holes down to 1:1 diameter-to-thickness ratio. SquareCut Technology uses the tilting capability of the DMX beveller to make small holes even better than what can be achieved with a standard plasma station.

MAXIMUM EDGE QUALITY

SquareCut Technology can also be used to enhance Quality Mode cutting, squeezing the last bit of angle out of the cut edge. When cutting in Quality mode, the usual 1 to 2 degree edge angle can be compensated, achieving 0 to 1 degree cuts.
